The Triangle Apartment Association (TAA) Leadership Lyceum program identifies and develops admirable, highly motivated, and committed multifamily housing individuals for future volunteer leadership roles and opportunities with TAA. 

The Lyceum Program is a collaborative five-month program that will bring together professional candidates of varying backgrounds. Together, these candidates will learn the qualities of an effective leader, analyze individual leadership roles, and develop personal leadership styles, skills, and the confidence to grow as volunteer leaders within our industry and the association for future leadership roles.

Who is Eligible to Participate? The TAA Leadership Lyceum program invites members who wish to develop their leadership skills and further their Apartment Association (TAA) involvement. There is a maximum of 36 candidates, 24 Owner/Operators, and 12 Vendor Partners (TAA Suppliers Partners, one team member per company).

Requirements:

 Attendance Required:

  • Candidates must complete the entire curriculum program and requirements to attain a certificate.
  • Attend One TAA Board Meeting in March, April, May, or June (Candidates must attend a TAA Board meeting by June to graduate).

 Curriculum:

  • February 11, 2025 - (Virtual Webinar) 10:00AM - 11:30AM - Introduction to the John C. Maxwell Method of DISC. Following this session, each candidate will receive a link to complete their online DISC assessment. 
  • February 25, 2025 - (Virtual Webinar) 10:00AM - 11:30AM - The Power of Strengths-Based Leadership. Following this session, each candidate will receive a link to complete their online Clifton Strengths assessment. 
  • March 12, 2025 - (In-Person) 9:30AM - 4:00PM - Discover Your Strengths with PowerDISC . In this full-day workshop, leverage your DISC style to be a more effective leader and communicate more effectively with your team. Each candidate's DISC profile report will be used during this workshop.
  • April 9, 2025 - (In-Person) 9:30AM - 4:00PM - Strengths-Based Leadership: Leverage Your Strengths to Be a More Effective Leaders of Self and Others. An interactive session focused on a leader's strengths in both their positive attributes (balconies) and negative attributes (basements). Understand and learn to leverage the Four Leadership Domains to build a more effective, well-rounded, and high-performing team.
  • April 30, 2025 - (In Person) 9:30AM - 4:00PM - The Leadership Game. The Leadership Game is an interactive game that allows everyone to engage in thought-provoking questions and discussion that gets to the heart of the matter in a short period, helping everyone raise their leadership lid! 
  • May 7, 2025 - (Virtual Webinar) 9:30AM - 11:00AM - Legislative Advocacy 
  • May 20, 2025 - (In-Person) 9:30AM - 4:00PM - The Five Dysfunctions of Team. By identifying the root causes of poor teamwork, leaders can develop specific strategies for overcoming each of them. 
  • June 18, 2025 - (In-Person) 9:30AM - 11:30AM - Association Management/Leadership 
  • June 24, 2025 - 12:00PM - 1:30PM - Graduation

                                        Your TAA Leadership Lyceum Program Facilitators 

                                                      

                 

Stephanie Puryear-Helling of SPH Services, LLC, will lead participants through the Maxwell DISC and StrengthsFinder introduction and assessments; and the four- sessions, Leverage your DISC Style, Leverage Your Strengths to Be a More Effective Leader of Self and Others, The Five Dysfunctions of Team, and The Leadership Game.

Stephanie has over 25 years of experience in the property management industry. She has proven to be a reliable and effective executive leader, coach, and facilitator, bringing a vision-driven approach to leading people and teams to success. She previously served as the President of the National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI) and was also a member of the NAA Leadership Advisory Board. During her tenure, she played a key role in forming a strategic partnership between the Gallup organization and NAAEI to develop an industry-specific executive leadership program. Stephanie completed the NAA Executive Leadership Program powered by Gallup several years ago and has since facilitated National Apartment Association Credentialing Courses, Strengths-Based Leadership Sessions, Keynote Presentations, and Leadership Development Programs.

Irene Butler, TAA Government Affairs Director will lead the Legislative Advocacy session.                                                                                                                       

  

Josie Eatmon, TAA Executive Director, CAE, and Suzanne Pratt, TAA Director of Professional Development, NAAEI Faculty, will lead the Association Management & Leadership sessions.
